"Let's Learn About..." RELIGION PAR EXCELLENCE - ACTUALIZATIONOF THE SEVEN STOREY NATURE OF MAN by Uriah J. Fields (260 pages).
We are all religious. We cannot choose to be non-religious. We are also, by nature, physical, mental, emotional, social, economic and political beings. Because religion, the spiritual essence, in particular, ... is such dynamic and all-pervasive force, any discussion of the nature of man and, equally as important, his functioning as a human being, demands that religion be presented as the preeminent aspectual portion of human nature. This is true, however, only in the sense that the spiritual capacity determines or controls, to a large extent, what happens in the other six aspects (storeys) of human nature, i.e., how they function. RELIGION PAR EXCELLENCE - ACTUALIZATION OF THE SEVEN STOREY NATURE OF MAN shows how harmonization of this seven-fold endowment of human nature is tantamount to being fully human. This book, based on research, revelation and experimentation, demythologizes myths that very often are encumbrances and demonstrates how a person can extricate himself from entrapment, including the religious trap. The author declares that to be religious is not enough. He maintains that religion can be destructive, producing fear, guilt and dependency. Or, it can be constructive and produce health, salvation and joy. Acknowledging that much religion, that is "forms of religion" is destructive, the author offers an alternative form of religion, which is more than a form, called a 'Religion of Transcendence' which enables a person to be, as Jesus said, 'I am in the world but not of the world" - to rise beyond heredity, environment and the cause-effect modality. Man is presented as a transcendent being, caught-up in cosmic connection. RELIGION PAR EXCELLENCE ranks with the The Prophet, The Power of Positive Thinking and The Road Less Traveled, as books that are most capable of affecting transformation in the life of an individual and society. "Actualization of the seven storey nature of man" is a state of consciousness in which a person ceases to deny his 'essentiality" but tenaciously embraces his nature while respecting the "marvelousness" of his being and expressing gratitude for the delectableness of his humanity.
